A Figure of Speech is a kinetic typography animation that responds to and enhances the tone of a supplied audio clip. I animated a snippet of Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg's presentation to world leaders at the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit where she appealed about the urgent need to stop the effects of climate change on our planet. I observed Thunberg's honest feelings through her tone of voice, actions, and expressions, to which I utilised as a feature throughout the animation. In response to Thunberg's quote referring to her "only speaking when necessary", I created minimal compositions implying significance to the words spoken. Alongside this, I applied a clean and modern design aesthetic emphasising this being a current and highly likely continuing issue if no immediate action is taken.
